BG 20 H Drill Rig
The idea of Bauer Maschinen GmbH to develop heavy duty drilling rigs is to achieve the maximum performance out of all installed components, and so to guarantee maximum efficiency in both the economical and also the ecological aspect. The power of the diesel engine which is installed in the machine must be transferred to the drilling tool in an optimal way with minimised losses through all the different systems of its drilling rig. As the leading manufacturer of drilling rigs in the world, Bauer attaches premium importance to get an efficiency which is distinctly higher than 70 per cent to save costs and to protect the environment. With the BG 20 H, this target has been clearly reached.

Diagram 1 shows possible system-based losses in efficiency, and the resulting rate at the rotary drive KDK.

Diagram 2 shows a comparison between theoretical curve and effectively measured and tested torque/rpm rates of Bauer?s BG 20 H.

These rates were actively measured and tested by a torque measuring unit which was developed and patented by Bauer Maschinen GmbH. The diagram clearly shows that the theoretical and the actually tested curve are close to each other.
Another very important aspect for the performance of the BG drilling rig is the main winch. With the BG 20 H, the main winch is equipped with a heavy-duty gear, so that 17 tons can be lifted from and in each position.

Each machine which leaves Bauer?s production facility in Germany was actively tested and approved, in order to guarantee this main winch effective capacity of 170 kN, whereas the nominal capacity of the installed main winch is 210 kN.

The high performance of the KDK with optimised efficiency, and the strong capacity of the main winch are only two factors which make customers from all over the world trust and appreciate the outstanding quality and reliability not only of the BG 20 H, but of the entire Bauer BG drill rig series.
