Big Crane Deal for Konecranes
WMI Konecranes bags an order from JSW Steel worth Rs 58 crore.

WMI Konecranes has bagged the order to supply total 21 heavy-duty cranes to JSW steel worth Rs 58 crore. WMI Konecranes (Formerly WMI Cranes) is a hundred percent subsidiary of Konecranes plc, Finland. Konecranes plc acquired hundred per-cent stake in WMI Cranes in August 2011 and the name of WMI Cranes was subsequently changed to WMI Konecranes India.

JSW Group has grown to $9 billion in little over a decade and has presence across various sectors ? Steel, Energy, Minerals, Port & Infrastructure, Cement, Aluminium. JSW Steel, the flagship company of the JSW Group, is today an integrated steel manufacturer. JSW Steel is the largest private sector steelmanufacturer in terms of installed capacity. JSW is part of $15 billion O P Jindal Group.

This order is one of the biggest single orders in terms of number of cranes to be supplied and the total value in Indian crane industry. WMI Konecranes has supplied more than 4,000 cranes till date and is a dominating market leader in steel industry crane market segment. WMI Konecranes has been a preferred supplier for cranes to JSW Steel right from the inception of their plant.

These cranes are to be used for the critical coil handling application in the cold rolling mill in JSW steel plant complex at Torranagallu, Hospet district, Karnataka. These cranes will be integrated as a part of the state of the art, automated coil yard management system in the coil rolling mill of this steel plant. This single order is consist of three 50 T cranes, two 50/10 T cranes, one 60 Tcrane, two 60/10 T crane, five 35 T crane, seven 35/10 T crane and one 15 T crane for maintenance application. All the cranes are fully automatic backed by the time tested technology of WMI Konecranes in the past four decades.

Steel plants are one of the complex manufacturing production units, each lifting application in steel mill represent its own challenge and unique environment. WMI Konecranes has been delivering proven lifting solutions for every stage of the steel making process and supplying most reliable laddle cranes, charging cranes, shipping area cranes, slab and billet handling cranes, bar, plates and also coil handling cranes which are important part of the complete manufacturing process.
