For Indian Roads
Hamm 311 soil compactor is now produced at Wirtgen?s Pune factory.

Wirtgen India has commenced production of the Hamm 311 soil compactor, a machine designed for the Indian roads, with German expertise. Hamm AG, Germany is one of the largest manufacturers of the compactors worldwide, and belongs to the Wirtgen Group, world leaders in road building and rehabilitation equipment.

The powerful machine, specially designed in Germany, in cooperation with Indian engineers for the Indian market, is now produced at the Wirtgen Group?s new factory near Pune. The new Hamm compactor 311 comes with simple operation, high compaction performance, a high-quality engine and excellent drive characteristics.

The compactor with 11 tonne operating weight impresses with numerous technical highlights. The three-point pendulum articulated joint is particularly note-worthy. It gives the machine excellent driving and steering characteristics, an unsurpassed directional stability and offers the best driving comfort. At all times, a modern display informs the driver about the machine condition and guarantees simple operation. The construction site and all important points of the machine are always in the compactor driver?s view from the platform.

Power comes from a water-cooled, Cummins engine, which sits under the carbon fibre bonnet. The sleek curves of this hood help ensure excellent visibility - not something that can be said about many other compactors on the market in India. The vibratory compactor is available in the standard version with rear-axle drive as the 311 model, the 311D model with additional driven drums and the 311P model with pad-foot drums.

Ramesh Palagiri, Managing Director and CEO, Wirtgen India, states, ?With the Hamm 311, we have developed a model that is designed specifically for the Indian market. This single-drum compactor corresponds to the high standards of quality of the Wirtgen Group, but is manufactured locally so that the pricing allows us to prevail on this highly competitive market. Within a short while, our market share for these compactors is close to 7-8 per cent, and the target is to reach 40 per cent in the next two years. Currently our engineers from Germany and India are working towards developing the 9-tonne asphalt paver for Indian Roads.?
