XCMG, the Chinese construction equipment company, has received its first order for its 3,600-tonne crawler crane, which is said to be the world?s largest crawler crane in terms of tonnage.

The order came from the construction wing of Sinopec, which worked with XCMG to develop the monster crawler, designed to meet the demand for major hoists in the petrochemical, oil, nuclear power and chemical industries.

The XGC88000 crawler crane has a maximum load of 79,800 tonne-metre, and is the first successful sale of a 4,000 tonne-class unit in the world, according to the company.
