Metso acquires CISA
Metso reinforces its know-how in process optimisation services to the mining and construction industries by acquiring the remaining interest in joint venture (JV) company Metso CISA. Metso and its JV partner BRGM in France signed the agreement about the acquisition in March. Metso CISA is now 100 per cent owned by Metso. CISA was created in 1990 as a JV company between SERGAP, a subsidiary of BRGM (49 per cent) and ARMCO (51 per cent). The business focus remains in advanced control and sensing as well as specialised column flotation. Metso acquired ARMCO's shares in 1998, and in 2009 increased its ownership to 67 per cent. With the acquisition, Metso further strengthens its excellence in process optimisation services and emphasises the commitment to innovation and new technologies. Headquartered in Orl?ans, France, the Metso CISA team consists of 21 people, specialising in advanced process control of mineral processing systems using Metso's Optimizing Control System (OCS?) platform. In the early 2000s the team launched its first sensing system, VisioFroth?, which now has a large installed base in mining. The team also developed several new machine vision tools such as VisioRock?, VisioTruck?, VisioBall?, and VisioPellet?, as well as applications for detecting oversize and other foreign objects on conveyor belts. The group launched the first in their line of acoustic products, AudioMill?, and products for abnormal condition management (OCS ? Navigator?). Metso CISA has completed several projects with Metso's mining and construction customers worldwide.
