Noida farmers agree to give land for 8-lane link road

Greater Noida Authority has said that farmers of Devla and Khodna Khurd villages have agreed to part with their land for the eight-lane Noida-Greater Noida link road. The Authority said that the 130 m link road will be ready by July. The Authority will soon begin taking over the land whose acquisition was quashed by Allahabad high court on October 21, 2011.

The 28 km link road is slated to provide signal free connectivity to Noida, Delhi and Greater Noida and will be constructed between Parthala Khanjarpur in Sector 122, Noida and Sirsa-Kasna in Greater Noida by the Greater Noida Authority. However, work on the link road has remained stalled for almost a year because of land acquisition related problems.

Villagers of Khodna Khurd and Devla had earlier refused to part with their land to make way for the link road after the the Allahabad HC quashed the acquisition of 168 acres in Devla. Officials said most farmers have already collected their compensation amounts in a disbursement camp organised by the Authority on March 15. The Authority has appealed to the remaining farmers to come forward and collect their dues.
