PM lays foundation for two Metro lines in Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for two major elevated Metro routes, Dahisar (W) to D N Nagar (part of Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro project) and the Andheri (E)-Dahisar (E) Metro that will run along Western Express Highway. The two Metro lines will decongest commuter transport in the crowded western suburbs and is being constructed at a collective cost of Rs 12,618 crore. They are proposed to be complete by 2019. At the event, Modi spoke about the ?Digital India? and ?Make In India? initiatives. He also congratulated Union Minster for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for his initiatives to develop road networks in India.
