Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari pointed to the need to manufacture road construction equipment in India to reduce infrastructure erection cost. The minister was speaking at the inauguration of the two-day ?National Conference on Highway Equipment? organised by the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) in New Delhi recently. He also announced that a Highway Equipment Development Council will be set up under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to develop new technologies and equipment to bring down the cost of construction and improving the quality of road infrastructure.
