An Exclusive Interview with Deepak Garg, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, SANY India
What are the key highlights of SANY India’s showcase at bauma?
We are showcasing 31 machines across our business units, including 13 new product launches. The portfolio spans excavation, deep foundation, road construction, mining, port machinery, aerial work platforms, material handling and heavy-duty transportation.
A major theme this year is the growing integration of technology, electrification and application-led engineering. Electric equipment features across several categories, including excavators, wheel loaders, mining trucks, reach stackers, aerial platforms and heavy-duty vehicles.
In excavators, we are launching the SY215C-9LC Quarry, SY210C-9 Quarry and the SY215E electric excavator. We are also displaying the SY33C PRO, SY38U PRO, SY150C PRO and SY220C-9XL SPARC+ across different applications.
Electrification is also extending to wheel loaders. The SW936E electric wheel loader is making its debut, while the SW956E electric wheel loader is also part of the display.
For road and earthwork applications, we are launching the STR90C-10 PRO soil compactor and displaying the SSR110C-10 PRO soil compactor and STG170C-10 motor grader.
How significant is electrification becoming across SANY’s construction equipment portfolio?
We believe productivity and sustainability have to move forward together. Electrification is therefore no longer restricted to one category of equipment. Our portfolio at the exhibition includes electric excavators and wheel loaders, as well as electric mining trucks, mining tippers, reach stackers, aerial work platforms and heavy-duty transportation equipment.
The objective is to develop electric solutions for applications where the technology can address both operational requirements and the industry’s longer-term transition towards more sustainable equipment.
How are you extending electrification into heavy-duty mining applications?
In mining, we are showcasing equipment across excavation, loading and haulage. This includes the SY900H mining excavator and SW978K1 PRO-IN mining wheel loader. The portfolio also includes the SKT115E electric mining truck and SANY 7540E electric mining tipper. These products reflect our efforts to extend electrification into heavier-duty applications rather than limiting it to smaller construction machines.
What new solutions are you introducing for foundation, ports and aerial-access applications?
In deep foundation equipment, we are launching the SR185DW, which has been developed specifically for the Indian market. The SR235MIII and SR445R E10 are also part of the display. For port applications, we are launching the SRSC45E3 electric reach stacker, extending electric technology into container handling. The SCP350C2 diesel heavy-duty forklift is also being showcased for high-capacity material handling.
In aerial work platforms, we are launching the SPT42, a 42-m telescopic boom lift. We are also displaying the SPS1414HA electric scissor lift and SPT26AC electric telescopic boom lift.
How is electrification extending beyond conventional construction equipment?
We are also taking electric technology into heavy-duty transportation. At bauma ConExpo, we are launching the SANY 5565E electric tractor and SANY 3555E electric tipper. Both use a 462-kWh battery configuration. This is part of a broader approach to electrification that includes not only construction machinery but also logistics and heavy-duty transportation applications.
What role does local manufacturing play in SANY India’s strategy?
Our approach is increasingly centred on “Make in India for the World”. We have built capabilities at our Chakan facility in Pune across manufacturing, quality, testing, engineering and customer support. The objective is to combine global engineering capabilities with local manufacturing and application knowledge. This enables us to develop equipment suited to Indian operating conditions while also creating products and capabilities that can support global requirements.
Our Chakan facility was developed with an investment of more than Rs 10 billion and includes capabilities across R&D, manufacturing, quality inspection, testing and service.
What solutions are you showcasing for road construction?
Our road construction portfolio at the exhibition includes the SAP100C-10 tracked paver, SAP80C-10 paver, SCM1000C-8S milling machine, SCP1300FC-8A milling machine and SABP145 asphalt batching plant.
Together, these products address different stages of road construction, from asphalt production and milling through to paving and compaction.
How are you strengthening customer support as the equipment portfolio expands?
A wider portfolio also requires a strong support network. We currently operate through around 42 dealers and more than 260 touchpoints across India. More than 45,000 SANY machines have been delivered across India and other South Asian markets. Going forward, continued investment in manufacturing, technology, product development and customer support will remain important as we expand into new equipment categories and applications.
