Caterpillar unveiled its first hybrid construction equipment?a hyd?raulic excavator that is more fuel efficient than the current products on the market. The hybrid takes advantage of storing energy generated during the process of motion?scooping, lifting, turning, unloading?and later reusing it. It also is substantially quieter than other excavators on the market today. The machine itself will be built in Japan, but many of the component parts still will be produced throughout the US.
