Three awards for Volvo CE
Volvo's L220G wheel loader beat thousands of international products to win a 'red dot product design award 2011,' the most globally-recognised mark for industrial design quality. Volvo's EC210C excavator was also awarded ?Machinery of the Year 2011' at the Baublatt ?sterreich awards in Austria. And at the same ceremony, Volvo Germany was presented with the Golden Shovel award for outstanding contributions to apprenticeship training. The red dot product design awards 2011 honours outstanding industrial design and celebrates the design team behind the concept. Volvo?s L220G wheel loader wowed a panel of design experts in Essen, Germany, to win the red dot award, a seal of high design quality from the world?s largest and most distinguished design competition. Volvo's EC210C hydraulic excavator won ?Machinery of the Year 2011? for its construction of a ski jump in Hinzenbach, Austria. The panel thought the EC210C ?performed brilliantly with exceptional stability and durability while transporting heavy steel mesh over a steep 35-degree slope.? The EC210C crawler excavator has the option of a hydraulically elevating cab, which significantly increases the operator?s visibility when sorting, loading or compacting. Thomas Schmitz, Managing Director, Volvo Baumaschinen ?sterreich, receiving the award said, ?It is an honour for me to accept this award on behalf of a great team of people who meet their daily challenges with passion. This award recognises both the advantages of an excellent product and the performance of a committed team, which is reflected in our efforts to satisfy our customers and provide reliable, quality machines.?
