BEML Wins Rs 590 Crore Defence Order for Mine Trawls
BEML Limited has secured a Rs 590 crore contract from the Defence Ministry to supply trawl assemblies for the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 tanks. The agreement was signed in New Delhi recently.
The advanced mine trawl systems have been indigenously designed and developed with Defence Research and Development Organisation and its R&D Engineers unit in Pune. The systems are expected to reduce import dependence while supporting the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Equipped with multi-layered mine-clearing mechanisms, the trawls will help create safe passages in combat zones, improving mobility, survivability and operational readiness of mechanised forces.
BEML said the order reflects continued confidence in its manufacturing and execution capabilities. The company operates across Defence and Aerospace, Mining and Construction, and Rail and Metro sectors, with manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, Mysore and Palakkad.
