Italy’s CE Sales Drop in 2024
In the twelve months of 2024, 22,013 construction equipment were placed on the Italian market, marking a 11 per cent decrease compared to 2023. More specifically, 20,988 earth moving machines (-12 per cent) and 1,025 road machines (+9 per cent) were sold in 2024. These figures have been released by Unacea, the Italian construction equipment association.

“Despite the reduction in sales of earthmoving machines, a positive note comes from road machines, which shows a countertrend in a generally less favourable context - said Michele Vitulano, president of Unacea. Unacea had anticipated this physiological decline, hoping that construction and infrastructure activity levels could still meet the country’s needs.”

Foreign trade is also down, as indicated by the latest Unacea foreign trade report. Exports between January and October 2024 surpassed Euro 2.6 billion, recording a -8 per cent compared to the same period in 2023. Imports also showed a negative trend, decreasing by 5 per cent to Euro 1.8 billion. Trade balance remains in surplus by nearly €845 million, but with a 13 per cent decline compared to the previous year.

Unacea is the Italian trade association for construction equipment. Founded in 2010, it counts around 90 member companies and a rate of representativeness in terms of turnover of 80 per cent, both in producing and importing of all types of equipment: earthmoving, road, concrete, drilling, attachment, and tower cranes.
