At Sany, our service commitment is to exceed customer expectations
We have adopted the most advanced patented systems in our equipment which greatly contributes to savings in energy and fuel consumption. In fact, the patented systems in our concrete pumps contribute to approximately 20 per cent saving on energy and fuel consumption, says Rajesh Kawoor, Vice President ?Sales & Marketing, Sany India. Excerpts from the interview.

How has the revival of market sentiments been reflected in the concrete equipment segment?
The feeling in the industry was that it will take some time for revival but since January 2012, we are experiencing some improvement compared to 2011. Our perception is that the concrete industry should these a rise in the next 2-3 months.

What is the demand-supply scenario for concrete pumps of all types?
In line with the details we have, last year the overall demand supply of concrete pumps increased by appro?ximately 20 per cent, compared to 2010. Sany works on a calendar year from January to December and we had very good order bookings in 2011.

What are the major growth drivers?
Our feeling is that the end-users are the drivers of the industry. We are very positive that with the collective effort of the stakeholders, the end- users will go for mechanisation and this will promote industry growth. We feel that the business potential will be limited to the RMC sector but the consumers of Tier II and Tier III cities will be the major contributors to the industry.

The growth of the concrete equipment industry to a great extent is dependent on the growth of the RMC segment, which still has not touched the double digit level. What is your take on this?
We feel that the major growth in the concrete industry will be by the RMC segment, which is not happening today. We would like to urge the RMC industry to take the initiative in promoting the usage of ready mixed concrete, which will benefit the concrete industry as well as the end-users.

Which segment gives Sany more business concrete pumps?
We have being getting more business from corporate and retail sectors rather than RMC. However, the demand of concrete pumps is growing in the cities and towns, and our low capacity concrete pump model HBT30C-1006DY will be in great demand in the coming days.

Could you tell us the value additions incorporated in your product range?
As far as Sany products are concerned, we are adopting the most stringent international standards which comply with the environment friendliness and safety. We have adopted the most advanced patented systems in our equipment which greatly contribute to savings in energy and fuel consumption, approximately 20 per cent.

What is your take on the competition, and what makes Sany stand apart?
The market for concrete equipment is on the rise due to the fact that the end- users understand the advantages of mechanisation as well as the usage of quality concrete. As far as competition is concerned, there is and will always be competition in any industry, but past experience has shown that only manufacturers with focus on quality equipment have survived. At Sany, our main focus is on quality and this is one of the reasons that Sany has survived in the international market and also become one of the top manufacturers of quality equipment in the world.

How do you address the issue of lack of skilled and trained operators for concrete pumps?
As the industry grows, there will be a dearth of skilled and trained operators and it is the responsibility of the stakeholders to contribute to producing skilled and trained operators. We have already taken the initiative to train operators and technicians at the cons?truction sites to gear up for the future. We will be shortly starting our training institute, where we will be having sche?duled training programmes for operators, technicians as well as engineers.

What are the issues based on concrete pumping and how do you address those issues?
The major issues in the concrete pumping industry are the awareness of quality concrete and the advantages of mechanisation. At Sany, we have training programmes with the end-users to apprise them of the advantages of concrete pumping. We also stress on the advantages of concrete pumping for time-bound projects.

Brief us on the products and services offered by Sany.
Sany concrete pumps have the developed technology of computer-controlled diesel engine rotation speed to effectively improve emission, decrease noises, and have used most advances S-valve technology for ideal performance. It has full hydraulic steering open system, low oil temperature, local and remote control.

The waterproof sealing technology, patented by Sany, is adopted for the main oil cylinder, to effectively prevent hyd?raulic oil emulsification and increases the life of hydraulic components. The auto lubrication technology leads to optimal lubrication of parts, and hence enhances the life and reliability of the product.

The Sany concrete pump is a product developed and manufactured by our company based on long experience dealing with construction machinery design and manufacturing, and adopting advanced technology of the current international concrete pump. It combines technology advance, high quality, high reliability and economic practicality and has established a five-core technology format focused on extreme high pressure pumping technology, hydraulic control technology, wearing technology, boom design and manufacturing technology and three-graded pumping technology.

The optimised hoppers incorporated with lean manufacturing technology are featured by higher efficiency of material suction and lower residue of material. The pre-installed oil fans are mounted more easily with simple structure which provides more clearance for repairs in machine. This cools oils and gives high reliability. The S valve technology assures low shocks and increase life of wear parts. Electro-hydraulic buffering and differential pressure sensor technology is incorporated into the product to enhance working parameters of the products and leads to longer life of the product and in turn, higher reliability.

What is the rental scenario for concrete pumps?
In India, the rental segment is still in a premature stage compared to the overseas market. The biggest hurdle in this industry is that it is controlled and dominated by the unorganised sector and has high rates of taxes for the leasing and rentals business. Consi?dering the huge potential and the need of the market, it is high time that major and organised players take the initiative in venturing into the rental sector. Simplifications of tax structure and clarifications on leasing for tax purpose will give a boost for rental segments.
