FW Murphy to Scale up Indian Presence
With five manufacturing units spread over the US, UK and China, and sales and service set up in over a hundred countries worldwide, Murphy looks to scale up its Indian presence, working towards a full-fledged manufacturing set-up in the near future.

As part of its ongoing expansion in developing markets, FW Murphy, an established player worldwide in equi?pment displays, instrumentation, engine control solutions and gas engine compo?nents for equipment and engines, has en?tered India with an office based in Pune.
Founded in 1939, for more than 70 years, FW Murphy has been designing and delivering complete solutions from sensors, gauges, wiring harnesses, electronic con?trols to totally configurable displays to se?veral major construction and mining OEMs worldwide. The Murphy product line has evo?lved from its original world famous Swichgage? instrument to include a broad range of engine and engine-driven equip?ment controls and monitoring systems. Today, Murphy is considered the leader in J1939 CAN instrumentation solutions.
With five manufacturing units spread over the US, UK and China, and sales and service set up in over a hundred countries world?wide, Murphy looks to scale up its Indian presence, working towards a full fle?dged manufacturing set-up in the near future.

"We expect the Indian construction and mining equipment segment to witness increased technology infusion in the next two to three years. Stringent emission norms, increasing operator costs, global competition and a more demanding customer should be the primary drivers of this," says Peter Gay, Managing Director at FW Murphy - Global. "With our technology-driven approach, expertise with electronic engines and more importantly, our ability to integrate mechanical diesel engines into a J1939/CANbus network, we at FW Murphy have a lot to offer to the equipment manufacturers in India and this is the right time to scale up our Indian presence," continued Peter Gay.

FW Murphy has a widely accepted range of configurable equipment displays, electronic hydraulic controllers, power distribution modules (PDMs) and high quality sensors and gauges. All of this made for the most demanding of conditions are Tier-4 Stage-IIIB/IV ready which makes them totally future safe.

The displays from the PowerViewTM Series come in both enhanced monochrome and high resolution colour. These displays have excellent sunlight view ability, are IP67 rated (front & back), fully configurable and can be both dash, gimbal or back-mounted for seamless dash integration. The colour displays PV450 and the PV750 are also video capable and support telemetry/GPS signal.

In addition to the customisable faceplate and bezel, the PowerviewTM displays also features configuration software that allows total control over screen design - including logos, menus, instrument layout, machine graphics, etc. FW Murphy provides detailed configuration training on its PowerviewTM configuration software to its customers. This enables the customer to then make changes in the displayed par?ameters specifica?lly on equipment or for a particular end user.

Murphy's Me?CANTM and Send?erCANTM are cost-effective analogue to CAN convertors wh_ich translate resistive sender, fault switches and magnetic pick up engine speed signals into SAE J1939 CANbus data. These convertors are used to make a mechanical engine feel and provide data just like an electronic engine.

The more sophi?sticated XM500TM is a configurable input out?put device which is use?d for bigger equi?pm?ent where a high number of parameters need to be monitored. "Our CAN convertors - the MeCANTM, Send?erCANTM and the XM500TM - are modular and flexible. This offers our customers great flexibility in choosing the parameters they need to display and scaling up the number as and when required," says Chris Ta?ylor, Application Mana?ger, FW Murphy, UK.

At FW Murphy, the focus is on understanding the customer's equipment, their operation, the exact information they need to decipher and the manner in which it is to be communicated to the operator. This is then configured into the convertors and the displays to provide the equipment OEM with a custom-made package which becomes an integral part of the operator equipment interface.

EControls (www.econtrols.com), a fully owned subsidiary of FW Murphy based out of San Antonio, Texas, USA, is a major supplier of engine components for gaseous fuel engines for material handling equi?pment, stationary equipment and autom?otive applications. EControls manuf?acturers electronic engine control modules (ECMs), fluid and gaseous fuel metering component valves, oxidation catalysts, regulators, solenoids and also provides expert services on engine calibration, eng?ine emission certification. They also cond?uct engine testing, calibration and machine functionality to meet emissions, drivability and fuel economy requirements.
