Proman offers total turnkey solutions in manufactured sand
Proman is one of the leading solutions provider for sand manufacturing companies, we are leagues ahead in terms of technology and our product offering, says RS Raghavan, Managing Director, Proman Infrastructure. Excerpts from the interview.

How do you assess the demand-supply scenario for manufactured sand?
Both the central and state government in India and their agencies have realised the detrimental effects sand mining has on the environment and they have also accepted the fact that manufacturing sand through the right equipment is as good as and even better than river sand. In view of the above facts, there is constant requirement for replenishing the sand market as well as for fine aggregates due to the heavy demand.

What is the range Proman offers in sand manufacturing equipment?
Proman offers the latest technology equipment for sand manufacturing. Our vertical shaft impactors and vertical shaft grinders, combined with our special screening equipment along with the sand washing equipment, the Proman Ortner, enables us to produce sand by the dry process and the wet process.

What are the latest technology/product trends?
Proman has recently tied up with our special screening company and we are able to offer the screens to remove superfines to produce concrete sand by the dry process. We also have the dry process technology to manufacture plaster sand for customers who have cost-to-water. Proman offers its unique Ortner sand-washing system which consumes lower water and power/tonne per hour.

Brief us on the features incorporated to bring down energy consumption, especially in the VSI.
Proman REMco VSIs are very energy-efficient because we use the multiport rotor technology which enables it to operate at the lowest power cost. Our VSIs also have a built-in air transfer removable which short- circuits the air entering the rotor, thereby distributing only 50 per cent of the air on to the discharge conveyor and thus reducing dust pollution.

What is your take on the rising input costs?
The recent input cost has definitely put pressure on our bottomline and we, along with our principals, continuously work on optimising design to partly offset this impact. We also provide innovative solutions to our customers thereby benefitting them when they use our equipment. The devaluation of the Indian rupee has definitely impacted imports; however, Proman doesn't depend a lot on imported components.

How do you look at the performance in the last fiscal and what is the growth percentage expected?
Proman has been growing since the last 11 years. We focus strongly on the fine art of crushing aggregate and producing sand. We expect the market to grow at the rate of 30 per cent this year.

What is the potential for sand manufacturing equipment from sand manufacturing companies?
Proman is one of the leading solutions provider for sand manufacturing companies; we are leagues ahead in terms of technology and our product offering. We can offer our customers total turnkey solutions (dry or wet) for producing manufactured sand.

What is your take on the increasing competition and what differentiate Proman from others?
Proman has unique products though our association with our technological partners. This, combined with our in-depth knowledge in the process part of the aggregate and sand business, helps us to offer innovative crushing and screening solutions to our customers.
