Putzmeister Boom Pumps at Bangalore Metro Rail Project
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is a joint venture between Government of India and Government of Karnataka with the responsibility of impleme?ntation of Bangalore Metro Rail Project. Named as ?Namma Metro?, the Phase I of this metro project started in 2009 and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 11,609 crore. Namma Metro phase-I network consists of two corridors East-West and North-South.

For the implementation and execution of the project, four elevated stretches called Reaches are identified for convenience purpose. Also there are two underground sections connecting Reach-1 and Reach-2 in East-West Corridor and Reach-3 and Reach-4 in North-South Corridor, respectively. Each Reach has been given to a contractor for execution of the project.

BMRCL has distributed the works to select best contractors based on their expertise in execution of project.

1) Building of elevated structure.
2) Building railway station.
3) Rail tracking construction
4) Underground Tunnel construction.

Methods used for concreting:

1) Viaduct (elevated structure): Basically using precast structure for segment, girders, pier cap etc. Each segment requires 20 cum. concrete and I-girder is required 17 cum.
2) Station building : Using precast and slab by concreting.
3) Underground tunnel: Using precast for tunnel rings. Tunnel concreting by shotcrete.
4) Track laying : Concrete is required to make plinth construction and track bed construction inside tunnel.

All the above application require high grade concrete: M40, M50, and M60.

L&T (B&F) using Putzmeister Boom Pump Model BSF36.09H

Under L&T B&F division:

They are doing the BMRCL project of 3 nos. station in R-3, 3 nos station in R-3A, 3 nos. Stations in R-4. They are using our boom pump basically for building station and for placing concrete at 3 level and for different structure. All station locations are highly conjusted due to traffic & placing concrete is a big challenge.

L&T, P&M - Head Rajesh is satisfied with the performance of the machine & is confidence of completing the project as per schedule. Also, he has appreciated the service support extended during concreting even at night.

JMC Project using Putzmeister Boom Pump Model BSF36.09H

JMC is doing the BMRCL project of R-4A in which 4 km elevated structure and 3 nos. stations and R03B in which 3.8 km elevated structure and 3 nos. stations. The machine is used for precast application and placing concrete at elevated structures wherever required and to build a station.

JMC, P&M-Head Manoj Kumar has mentioned that PM machine performance is up to his satisfaction.

Market share of Putzmeister Boom Pumps is around 70-80% in this project.

L&T using Putzmeister Boom Pump Model BSF36.09:
L&T has two divisions, one is Infra OC (Operating Company) and other one is B&F (Building &Factory ) division.

Under L&T Infra division:

They are doing the BMRCL project of R-3A for Elevated structure for
5.1 km. They are using Putzmeister Boom pump model BSF 36.09 for
pre-casting and concreting piers & piers caps.

They have done almost 1,100 segments and 1,000 nos. I-Girders by using this machine.
Each segment will have 20 cu m concrete and each I-Girder will have 17 cu m concrete.
L&T, P&M - Head Lokesh is extremely satisfied with the performance of the machine in completing his project as per stipulated timeline.

CEC using our pump BSF36.09H & BSF32.09H

They have been awarded underground tunnel project of total length 4.9 km. They also constructing 4 nos underground stations in East-West line. Project has started and almost 3 km tunnel has been completed. Brief project details are as under:

Tunnel length: 4.9 km and tunnel diameter is 5.9 m
Underground depth: 35 m
No. of under ground stations: 4 nos.
Tunnel rings: Rings are pre-casted in different segment.
They are using our boom pump for placing concrete at tunnel opening, pathways, sidewall construction etc.
