Hemendra C Shah, Vice President (Commercial) and CFO, Elecon Engineering Co Ltd, has a vast experience of 30 years in Finance, Cost & Management Accounting, Banking, Taxation Secretarial, Legal, Insurance and other related matters. Shah is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers as well as a qualified Company Secretary (CS). Throughout his career he shares an immaculate and passionate professional background of companies like Calico Mills, ONGC, and Adani Enterprise Ltd, apart from Elecon.

His professional association includes institutions such as Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) as well as The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). He is also a recipient for Excellence in Corporate Governance Award by ICSI in December 2003. He was elected as Chairman of Ahmedabad Chapter of Cost Accountants of Western India Regional Council of Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India, Kolkata, for 2008-10.

At Elecon, his role is a multitasked approach which includes: to explore new and innovative ways of raising finance to meet the ever increasing requirement of the company as well as group in a challenging environment; strategist for revenue growth/preservation and cost reduction through better leveraging options for debt financing for the projects undertaken; managing finance function?s efficiency and service levels/effectiveness in the system; ensuring compliance; building capabilities for personal development of his people; and enabling future strategic direction for his company?s major strategic decisions undertaken.

Shah has played a crucial role right from the beginning in the acquisition of a UK-based company Benzler & Radicon Group by Elecon, for identifying, negotiating, and co-coordinating consultants or agencies to help in respect of accounting & financial due-diligence, transaction advisory, legal due-diligence and funding advisory.
