AWPs and boom lifts are gaining traction in construction
Srinivasu Allaphan, Director-Sales & Marketing, JK Tyre & Industries

JK Tyre unveiled four new OTR tyres at Excon 2025. What is the significance of these launches for the Indian market?
India is in the middle of a major infrastructure expansion, which is driving demand for specialised equipment and equally specialised tyres. The new OTR range is designed to support this shift by offering tyres engineered for specific machines and operating conditions, rather than generic applications.

Aerial work platforms and boom lifts are seeing increasing use in construction, infrastructure maintenance, warehousing and industrial operations. The SKY GRIP tyre has been developed specifically for these applications, with a focus on stability, traction and consistent performance at height. Safety and reliability are critical in such operations, and the tyre is designed to address those requirements across varied terrains.

What other applications does the new OTR range address?
The GTL PLUS range targets backhoe loaders and wheel loaders, focusing on durability, traction and endurance in high-load, repetitive operations. For underground mining, the VEM AS-UG tyre has been developed with a reinforced casing and specialised compound to withstand abrasive conditions and demanding duty cycles typical of shuttle car applications.

How does this expanded portfolio align with JK Tyre’s broader strategy?
Our approach is strongly application-led. As construction and mining projects become more complex, tyres need to deliver predictable performance, durability and operational safety. By expanding our OTR portfolio, we are strengthening our support for the equipment that powers critical infrastructure and industrial projects across the country.
