CIL fails to achieve output, offtake targets

Even as Coal India (CIL) registered growth in production and offtake during April and May 2013 from the corresponding period of the previous year, it failed to attain the target on these fronts.

For example, while the company aimed to produce 71.65 million tonne (mn t) of coal in April and May, it could manage only 70.30 mn t.

Similarly, it missed its offtake target for April-May as it sold 78.16 mn t of the fuel against the target of 80.95 mn t.

However, its output rose 1.3 percent over the same period last year, while offtake grew 2 percent over the year ago period.
