Caterpillar secures big bid

Caterpillar Global Petroleum was recently chosen to provide CNOOC with 8 x 16 M 32 C crude oil engine generator sets. These generator sets will be installed on two offshore production platforms in the Panyu 4-2/5-1 oilfield, located in the South China Sea. Each long stroke 16 M 32 C generator set will provide 7,680 kWe (9,600 kVA) at 750 rpm of rated power. The two offshore production platforms will each have four generator sets with auxiliary equipment, which will include fuel supply modules, cooling modules, separator skids, lube oil skids and control panels. All eight generator sets will be delivered in April 2011. Construction of the platforms will occur at the CONHW, Zhanjiang, China shipyard. ?We are pleased CNOOC has again chosen MaK generator sets to power their production platforms. The 16 M 32 C is a superior generator set for the offshore sector, providing reliable power with both low fuel and lubricant oil consumption,? said Joe Tracy, General Manager-Sales for the MaK Asia dealership. ?We are well-equipped with our local project management, engineering and parts and service teams to provide the high level of support required by CNOOC for this demanding application. We very much appreciate their trust in our products and services, and we look forward to continuing our long-term relationship with CNOOC for their future offshore needs.?
