The machines we offer are embedded with the latest technology; like the mining dozer of 400 hp, which is an example of electromechanical trans?mission par exce?llence, says D Naidu, Director, ChTZ India, in an exclusive chat with Equipment India. Excerpts from the interview.
How do you look at the present status and potential for construction and mining equipment?
It's quite interesting to note that India has emerged as one of the fastest growing countries in the world in relation to the construction and mining segments. For the last couple of years, we could see very good potential for equipment pertaining to the construction and mining areas as the number of projects been awarded and under execution have increased manifold. Keeping in view ChTZ's experience of eight decades and spread across 45 countries, the company has its own proven strategy in meeting all challenges.
What sort of topline growth are you looking at?
We are sure to improve our topline by 20 per cent.
Brief us about ChTZ and its core strength and competencies.
Founded in 1933, -UrChelyabinskaltrac is Russia's leading construction equipment manufacturers, employing more than 15,000 people. Uraltrac has been world's best manufacturer of war tanks and crawler dozers since past 78 years. It has to its credit of manufacturing and supplying T series battle tanks to many countries in the world including India. It has proved time and again, the rugg?edness, durability, availability and easy serviceability of their products for more than 50 years. Even today, the new generation war tanks and engines rolling out of this plant are both for their own use and supplied to other countries, too. Uraltrac is proud to declare that for more than 50 years, almost 90 per cent components are manufactured in-house. The Uraltrac plant has been supplying crawler tractor dozers in India since 1962. Their first customers were BRO, Indian Army, and government steel plants. Even today, they supply and service the Indian Army. As of today, there are more than 400 units of Uraltrac products spread across the country with private and public sector customers. Uraltrac manufactures 12-1,500 hp engines, crawler dozers, crawler pipe layers, loaders, crawler loaders, compactors, vibro-rollers, waste compactors, agri tracto?rs, multi-fitment, winches, pumps, etc.
The plant was awarded the Order of Lenin (1971), the Order of the Labor Red Banner (1983), the Order of Kutuzov of the first grade (1945), the Order of the Red Star (1944). The experimental plant and the design department for diesels were awarded the Order of Lenin in 1944 and 1945, respectively. Twelve tractor-constructors were honoured as the Heroes of Socialist Labor. ChTZ-Uraltrac was laureate of the competition 'The Best Russian Exporter 2006.'
The company fulfills the purposeful policy aimed at increasing export and satisfying all needs of international clients. At present the plant puts in the market the machines applied in oil, gas, metal mining, construction and other branches of industry. Over 15,000 enterprises are the consumers of ChTZ products all over the world.

We, ChTZ Equipment India (P) Ltd, are the authorized business associates for the Chelyabinsk Mechanical Plant (CMZ) manufacturing trucks and crawler cranes, and Dormash JSC - high class motor graders for construction and mining applications. The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant has the International Certificate of Quality Management System Conformance to the requirements of GOST R ISO 9001-2001. We are the authorised business associate for the CMZ manufacturing trucks and crawler cranes, and Dormash JSC - high class motor graders for construction and mining applications.
How do you look at the market potential for dozers and loaders?
Based on the current market scenario , we see the total industry volume for dozers will be around 700 in 2012 and for loaders it can be 4,000 and more. ChTZ has a very good range in dozers, ranging from 110 HP to 420 HP. The dozers we offer are with latest technology; especially the mining dozer of 400 HP, with electromechanical transmission, which is one of the proven tech?nologies by ChTZ for the last 50 years. It has been a very successful product in mining and other con?struction industry applications.
How do you look at the potential from the mining segment?
For the last one year, we have started actively participating in all the government tenders pertaining to the mining segment. It is quite encouraging to note that we have a very good scope for making our presence felt in coal and iron ore mines. Equally, we have a good number of enquiries from major corporates for their mining business.
What is the scope for the pipe layers?
The oil, gas, and major water pipeline works are in great demand across the country. Our pipe layers have been working in India for more than 12 Years and have proven their reliability and durability. ChTZ's pipe layers have been used in the projects of BPC, IOC, Essar, etc. Today, our pipe layers enjoy a strong market share of the world.
What is your geographical spread, and sales and services network like?
ChTZ Uraltrac has a presence in more than 45 countries. ChTZ has its corporate office in Hyderabad supported by own resident engineers and sales teams in important cities and also dealers based in all four regions of the country.
Will there be any new launches at Excon?
It's a good platform for a company like ChTZ to promote and introduce their products. We are planning to launch revolutionary dust suppression system and world class tower lights from Italy to compliment our product range.
What makes ChTZ different from the competition?
ChTZ India has a very good technology support from the main plant in all parameters for product sales and service. The main advantage to the customer is on-site availability of spares and fully in- house trained manpower. This gives the end- user the assurance of on-time availability of service support at site.
