Dassault Systems, a French design software company, is to focus on the mining and energy sector in the eastern part of the country. It has already set up an office in Kolkata for the purpoe. The company's focus will be on mining projects in the east and hydro-power projects in the north-east.

In the company's Kolkata office, mining experts and other employees would be based, said Dassault Systems Managing Director Chandan Chowdhury. The company provides three-dimensional design solutions to industries such as manufacturing, urban planning, consumer goods, automotive and infrastructure.

Chowdhury was addressing a seminar on global IT-industry organised by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in association with Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council in Kolkata last week.
