Demag strengthens foothold
Demag Cranes is continuing to expand its presence on the Mississippi River. The company has received an order for the supply of a floating crane to Impala Warehouses LLC (Impala). From September 2012, this Gottwald G HPK 8400 B, a variant of Model 8, will be used at the Burnside Terminal operated by Impala in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, in the US, where it will predominantly handle bauxite and coal.

The crane will undertake midstream cargo handling and contribute to establishing Burnside?s place among the top ten coal and bulk logistics facilities in the US, according to Martijn Snijder, CEO of Impala. ?We acquired Burnside in June of last year with the aim of creating a state-of-the-art terminal. The acquisition of high-performance handling equipment such as the new Gottwald floating crane is instrumental in achieving that goal,? Snijder said.
