Equipment Displays
FW Murphy?s PowerviewTM displays are rugged, integrate the entire equipment and most importantly, are easy to configure to specific equipment and OEM needs.

As off-highway equipment become sophisticated, equipment manufacturers look to present the entire equipment data to the operator in a user-friendly way. Equipment displays are increasingly becoming the preferred choice; most displays show basic equipment data but most lack the advanced control ability or customisation options that enable OEMs to create a stylish, brand-specific display with the ability to monitor and control specific application functions.

The PowerViewTM displays

FW Murphy offers equipment manufacturers with displays that provide both the flexibility and capabilities to fit an array of applications. FW Murphy?s PowerView line of displays and the PowerVision Configuration SuiteTM software, provide the perfect base for OEMs to integrate a display which brings to them a perfect combination of style and performance. While most electronic displays require OEMs to work within a predetermined configuration, the complete line of PowerView displays can be totally configured by the equipment manufacturers to their specifications. The way they should be: tailored to fit.

Murphy?s fully modular displays used on equipment powered by both mechanical and electronic engines integrate the entire equipment: engine, transmission, hydraulic and other equipment information. The Murphy PowerView displays come with features that are specifically designed to meet the requirements of the off-highway environment.

The PowerView 750 integrates equipment information into a large 7-inch, full WVGA bonded LCD flat-screen that provides best-in-class sunlight view ability. It supports several protocols, including CAN J1939, NMEA 2000 (for GPS data) and CAN open. The PowerView 750 display easily integrates into Stage IIIB / Tier 4i emissions-compliant applications and is Stage IV ready, saving time and money in the future. The display features a video input to support a camera, as well as a USB port interface, which can be used for firmware updates and to store diagnostic data. The MODbus output enables connection to remote communication devices. The display features service reminders for engine, equipment, and transmission and also supports data logging capabilities.

Much like the larger PowerView 750 display, the PowerView 450 integrates all information but its compact 4.3 inch bonded WQVGA LCD saves valuable space on the operator panel. The PowerView 450 display comes equipped with a powerful operating system capable of handling large configurations, several protocols as well as proprietary messages.

Both PowerView displays feature a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85?C, have a high-impact protective casing and the much needed IP66 and IP67 rated environmental sealing on the front and back. Murphy has been providing cutting-edge recreational marine displays (luxury yachts, speedboats) using optical bonding technology for more than six years, and has adopted the very same optical bonding method for its PowerView off-highway displays. Murphy?s PowerView displays therefore feature a 16-bit colour transmissive TFT LCD with optically bonded glass for optimum viewability. This facilitates clear viewing in outdoor open-air applications.

FW Murphy believes strongly in making display customisation simple. The PowerVision Configuration SuiteTM, a Windows-based application software allows OEMs to configure their own display vastly reducing complexities of software programming. From basic pull and drop options right up to in-depth custom programming through C-code and scripting, users can modify round gauges, bar gauges, warning/indication lamps on the display right from a personal computer. A base library of templates and screen designs, as well as the ability to upload images offers equipment manufacturers with the flexibility to design uniquely customised screens. This simplified approach to graphics can be used to alter CAN J1939, NMEA, CAN open compatible parameters, add custom parameters and fully change the composition of the screen.

In addition to parameters, equipment manufacturers can edit troubleshooting information, such as diagnostic codes and messages, and assign corrective action messages that are displayed when a fault has occurred. Users can link bitmaps to parameter data for graphic alarms. By performing the changes themselves through a simple interface, equipment manufacturers no longer have to wait for the display provider to provide custom changes. This approach can help shorten the time to market. The common system design between the PowerView 750 and PowerView 450 displays also enables OEMs to share a configuration design between machines. The configuration software currently supports 10 languages and allows users to import additional font sets for increased language support.

Mechanical engine interface

The Murphy-Link system includes products that seamlessly integrate traditional mechanical engines, transmission, hydraulics and other equipment parameters into a simplified, yet powerful, link for the PowerView displays.

The simple yet powerful MeCAN translates resistive sender, fault switch and speed signals from mechanical, non-ECU engines into SAE J1939 CANbus data. The MeCAN has one output, which enables manufacturers to run alarms, buzzers, triggers and even critical shutdown. The SenderCAN module has four inputs which can be configured to transmission, hydraulic and other equipment information to meet OEM or application-specific measurement needs. With most equipment in India still using mechanical engines, the Murphy-link provides a viable mode of integrating the entire equipment using the highly reliable CANbus protocol.

Total system integration

Combining the displays and the CAN Convertors, opens up several possibilities giving equipment manufacturers the ability to integrate the entire system leading to a great user interface through the PowerView displays. OEMs can integrate specific application data ? hydraulics, transmission, HVAC control, radio, reverse camera, observation cameras, data logging, GPS, telematics and more ? into one powerful and easy-to-use display. This total system integration with the reputation that FW Murphy products carry is robust, modular, future safe and most importantly, tailored to fit!
