Flyover planned to solve traffic jams in Kochi's Vyttila

To resolve traffic problems in Kochi's Vyttila area, the most crowded junction in Kerala, the district administration has come up with a novel idea of constructing portal frame structured flyovers. The major advantage of the portal frame structure is that it will be free of pillars in the middle of the road that will ensure free flow of traffic by incorporating loops and ramps for entering the flyover.

The flyoveris designed in such a way as to meet the transport requirements for the next 50 years. Another advantage of the design is that it can be implemented in three phases, said the district administration authorities. Ernakulam District Collector PI Sheikh Pareeth, who is also an engineer, along with a team of architects who have proven their expertise at the international level, has come up with the design and a plan for the development of Vyttila Junction.

The flyover will have a width sufficient enough to provide a three-lane traffic on both the sides. Along with the six-lane flyover, the loop and ramp structure in the shape of a clover leaf will provide a modern and stylish look to the entire structure.
