From a two-product company at the time of its inception, ie, elevators and conveyors, Elecon today have a broad range of products that cater to the diverse requirements of their clients,? says Prayasvin B Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Elecon. Their product range includes but is not limited to design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commission of wagon tipplers, bucket wheel stacker reclaimers, barrel type blender reclaimers, fertiliser reclaiming scrapers, limestone pre-homogenising and blending plants, single and twin bucket wheel bridge type reclaimers, crawler mounted trippers, stationary and shiftable conveying systems for open-cast lignite and coal mines, integrated coal handling plants for power stations, ship loaders and unloaders, apron feeders, paddle feeders, vibrating feeders, impactors, single and double roll crushers, roll screen, wind turbine generators, gear boxes and couplings.

The separate material handling equipment which is amongst the pioneers in introducing the concept of sophisticated bulk material handling equipment in India, under the leadership of Patel, has set a high watermark in the industry. His guidance led the MHE division to become the first Indian company to sell over 100 stacker-reclaimer (combined machine) throughout the globe and by selling 225 wagon tippler, the MHE division has become on the third company in the world to attain this feat.

Gears

Elecon?s proven expertise in technology and innovation has enabled it to successfully decipher the changing requirements of the industry and churn out technologically superior products from time to time. They were the first to introduce modular design concept, case hardened and ground gear technology in India. Elecon has a successful history in manufacturing of gears with proven expertise in design and manufacture of worm gears, parallel shaft and right angle shaft, helical and spiral bevel gears, fluid, geared and flexible couplings and planetary gear boxes. Over the years, Elecon has been the supplier of choice to core sectors like sugar, cement, chemical, fertiliser, steel, plastic extrusion and rubber.

The gear division manufactures the largest range of industrial gearboxes and power transmission products and has set a benchmark in the Indian gear industry by introducing many firsts. It has also proudly partnered the Indian Navy, by supplying them with marine gearboxes for their stealth warships and air craft carrier. The gear division also holds the distinction of being the only manufacturer of MW capacity gearboxes for wind turbine generators, which has the capacity to produce 2 MW of power. This has elevated the status of Elecon Gears, making them join the elite list of gear box manufacturers which was earlier restricted to Europe. Patel?s keenness to improvise, hands on approach and his active participation has seen the Gear Division rise to become Asia?s largest manufacturer of Industrial Gears with the facilities being acknowledged as amongst the most modern ones in the world.

Elecon has always believed that quality stands out and so they always make it a point to ensure that each and every product passes through our rigorous quality standards so that they meet the clients? requirement. They were the first Indian gear company to receive the coveted ISO 9001:2000 certification. With significant investments in manufacturing facilities, technology and innovation they have today become a truly global player.

Elecon Group companies include Eimco Elecon (which mainly caters to the underground mining industry), PBL (Power Build Limited), Prayas Engineering, and EMTICI Engineering (a marketing and servicing company) as well as other subsidiary companies.
