German farm equipment firms to launch products
German farm equipment manufacturer Lemken is looking to double its sales to 1,000 pieces of farm equipment by next year. The company, which currently sells, ploughs is set to launch farm equipment from harrows to sub-soilers. Lemken India Agro Equipment, a hundred per cent owned subsidiary of Lemken GmbH, is currently targeting progressive farmers. Its production facility set up in 2012 at Nagpur in Maharashtra has a capacity to manufacture 3000 farm equipments. Exports of the farm equipment from India by next year would also help push sales said company officials. Lemken is currently importing the raw material-steel because of special material composition and is exploring to source it from India, which could further reduce the cost. With a Lemken hydraulic reversible plough ranging between Rs 90,000 to 2,50,000 compared to a local plough selling at Rs 50,000, the company is catering to a niche sector.
