Guide for machine builders
Rockwell Automation announced the availa?bility of a 75-page addi?tion to the Converged Plant?wide Ethernet Design and Implementation Guide to help machine builders and manu?facturers deploy integrated motion using Ether Net/IP net?working technology. The new chapter of the guide, which was developed as part of a colla?borative effort with Cisco, provides detailed design gui?dance, recommendations and best practices to help control-system engineers tightly and securely synchronise their motion applications within the plantwide architecture. For applications requiring highly integrated motion control, such as
packaging, pick-and-place, converting, assembly and robotics, the network infra?structure must be capable of managing time synchroni?sation services and delivering data between devices in a timely manner. The new cha?pter of the Design and
Implementation Guide addre?sses both of these tasks, while leveraging the EtherNet/IP net?work. Using the detailed Design and Implementation Guide, custo?mers can quickly achieve network convergence.
