Highway works worth Rs 1.63 lakh cr sanctioned in six years
National highway works worth Rs 163,302 crore were sanctioned for expansion and widening, entrusted to state public works departments (PWD) from 2015-16 to 2019-20 and the current year, said Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

Gadkari, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said that the ministry keeps receiving proposals from various state governments from time to time for expansion and widening of national highways entrusted to them.

Gadkari said that during the last six years, from 2015-16 to 2020-21, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has sanctioned 2,115 works costing Rs 163,302 crore for expansion and widening of national highways in the country entrusted to state public works departments (PWDs). This includes 62 highway works sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1,926 crore in Kerala.
