Innovations in Mining!
The mining industry is key to Indias growth ambition of $5 trillion. With the government recently coming out with some critical reforms in the mining and coal sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat package, mining is seen as one sector which has the potential for triggering growth, revenue and employment.
Against this backdrop, IMME 2022 showcased the latest range of mining machinery, equipment, advanced technology solutions, services and supplies from India and abroad. Since its inception in 1984, IMME has been the most prominent mining exhibition which brings together the segment's key players, contributing to the growth of the Mining sector in India.
With four days of power-packed international exhibitions, 350+ exhibitors, and 700+ delegates, Indias largest mining exhibition saw the whos who of the segment come together under one roof. Spread over 100,000 sq ft, the exhibitors included players from crushing and conveying equipment, machinery, supplies and consumables, procurement and supply managers, contractors, cement manufacturers, steel, aluminium industry, and many more.
In his address, Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, Coal India (CIL), emphasised on the role of mineral sector to help India grow with a rapid speed. Agrawal said that CIL is focusing on mechanisation and digitisation to increase its coal production and attain sustainability.
Amidst the IMME, the Global Mining Summit 2022 discussed the Role of Minerals in Shaping a Sustainable Future to highlight the growth and emerging trends in the Indian mining sector. It focused on the high-priority aspects of the mining business including exploration, ease of doing business, new technology, policy frameworks for sustainable mining, and emerging opportunities.
Mining innovations galore!
As a principal sponsor of the event, Caterpillar along with its dealers GMMCO and Gainwell, showcase its latest advancements in mining technology. The exhibit was grouped under three areas: safety, technology, and performance improvement. The productivity benefits delivered by MineStar are extensive and comprehensive. MineStar solutions help to improve the efficiency of overall operation ” assigning fleets and operators, managing material movement, optimising payload, and minimising repair costs. One can further optimise operations with MineStar automation technologies ” a productivity game-changer.

BKT, one of the most prominent players in the off-highway tyre industry, showcased its Made in India extraordinarily extensive product portfolio, including solutions suitable for various needs and applications in the mining sector. BKT showcased its technologically driven high-quality products for the mining sector. The events main focus for BKT was the all-steel radial tyre, Giant EARTHMAX SR 468 TL. The special tread design and the compound of this 57-inch tyre was created to limit heat generation and make it cut resistance. Its greater casing resistance makes it an excellent choice for the mining sector.
Another tyre from the EARTHMAX family on the display is the EARTMAX SR 53 TL. It is also an all-steel radial tyre specially designed for ultra-large loaders, dozers, and low-profile dump trucks. The classified deep L-5 treads that makes it ideal for severe rocky conditions consists of a cut-resistant compound. The technology used in this tyre provides it with an extended wear life along with excellent traction and stability.
