JCB launches its new 50Z-1 mini excavator with zero tail swing

Joseph Cyril Bamford (JCB) has launched its range of compact excavators with zero tail swing 50Z-1, boosting dig depth to 12 feet 7 inches and dump height to 14 feet.

According to Chris Lucas, excavator product manager for JCB North America said that the 50Z-1 has low ownership cost, which is a perfect solution for contractors, landscapers, owner-operators and rental companies.

It is designed with a 100% steel body and zero tail swing, allowing power and control in limited spaces, making it ideal for construction, landscaping, and utility work to the highway and residential buildings.

The company said that the new compact excavator has a 7 inches colour display screen with an automotive-style rotary dial for screen navigation for accessing a host of systems and information.

Operators can set their programmable auxiliary hydraulic flows from the cab to 10 attachments. The 50Z-1 excavator provides access to machine information and operations with a twin-locking hydraulic quick hitch and tool selection to change attachments easily. The screen is also part of the safety system, including a new visual lift overload warning.

The machine was designed for the operators' comfortable floor space and to reduce noise and vibration. It has redesigned tracking pedals, with auxiliary and boom swing control on the joysticks. Moreover, the machine's new display screen includes a new hands-free Bluetooth radio, auxiliary socket and a 12 V charger.

According to JCB, the 50Z-1 machine was designed to keep operating costs as low as possible. It runs on a 43.3 hp engine, which provides programmable auto-idle, auto engine-stop, and four different engine modes to reduce the overall fuel consumption of the machine.

As for maintaining the machine, the first turn automatically brings up an on-screen health check. The company added convenient access to daily checkpoints, designed the H-frame undercarriage easier to clean and enhanced the greasing intervals up to 500 hours to increase the machine's productivity and reduce downtime.
