JLG has launched its new high-capacity 2733 telehandler as a viable alternative to wheel loaders.

With a capacity of 26,600 pounds, the 2733 is the company's highest telehandler. That's nearly 10,000 pounds more than the 1732, the company's previous highest-capacity model.

The 2733 has a maximum lift height of 33 feet and a maximum reach of 17 feet 7 inches, with an 8,000-pound capacity.

The telehandler will be used in industrial and large-scale commercial construction, as well as oil, gas, and wind energy projects, and above-ground mining, according to JLG. It can load and unload trucks and trailers, as well as assist maintenance and repair personnel with larger fleet equipment.

The 2733 comes with a two-speed hydrostatic transmission. The company claims that optional ride control and boom float make operation smoother on uneven terrain. For tight Jobsite manoeuvring, the telehandler also has a class-leading outside turning radius.

The cab was designed to be spacious and provide operators with better visibility. It also has a wrap-around dash and a single intuitive joystick.

When the telehandler reaches its capacity limits, an automated Load Stability Indication System sends an alarm and a visible signal to the operator.

A sensor measures weight on the rear axle and a series of lights visible to the operator indicate load stability. When the load capacity is reached, a red light illuminates, an alarm sounds, and most hydraulic functions are disabled. The operator's only options for regaining stability are to retract and lift the boom. When the telehandler is stable again, the alarm goes off and the light changes to orange. While the red light is on and the hydraulic functions are restricted, the operator can use the override switch to continue operating the telehandler.

JLG also offers SmartLoad Technology, which works in tandem with the Load Stability Indication System, as an option for the 2733. The telehandler can recognise the attachment being used wirelessly and display the load capacity chart for it. The attachment's location on the load chart is then graphically displayed in real-time on the display.

An electronic mirror for the operator's right side is another useful option for the 2733. The mirror is made up of forward- and backwards-facing cameras that show the operator their views.

Customers can also opt for a reverse sensing system, which sounds an alarm when the telehandler's back approaches an obstacle. A multifunction display with electronic load charts, a reversing camera, and machine diagnostics is also available.

Forks, grapple and material buckets, truss boom, pipe grapple, and tyre handler are among the attachments available for 2733.
