Kolkata Port aims to advance Rs 2,400 cr projects
Kolkata Port, now known as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), the company is aiming to advance the implementation targets of the Rs 2400 crore projects under the PM Gati Shakti plan. An official said the port wants to make Kolkata a leading cruising destination in the eastern region, and it is planning a Rs 66 crore project to build three to four cruise terminals, as well as riverfront beautification and commercial development, on a 31-acre plot in the city’s Khidderpore neighbourhood.

The Gati Shakti projects aim to reduce India’s logistics costs of India from 6 to 8 per cent, in line with global standards from 13-14 per cent.
