According to reports, L&T Construction will develop a skill development training centre on the Nagpur Municipal Corporation?s abandoned school land at Babulban in East Nagpur. The corporation?s standing committee in a meeting has approved the proposal to lease out 75,000 sq ft land to L&T Construction for 30 years. The proposal will be tabled before general body and then the state government for final approval. L&T Construction operates similar centres at eight locations: Panvel, New Delhi, Kolkata, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

The centre will give training for seven types of workers: Lab technician (pavement), surveyor, pavement layer and pavement layer assistant, plant and machinery operator for grader, compactor, paver, WMM plant, kerb casting machine, plant and machinery maintenance for auto electrician and plant operation, pre-stressed technician and civil assistants on paving, concrete, formwork and bar-bending.
