Liebherr Excavators Win Red Dot Award
The new Liebherr A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact Litronic wheeled excavators have received the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ award in the Product Design 2026 discipline of the Red Dot Award. The highest honour recognises visionary and exceptionally outstanding product design. The two models were first presented to the public last year and expand Liebherr’s wheeled excavator product portfolio. With their compact design, high performance and user-oriented features, the A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact set new standards in the compact wheeled excavator segment.
The new wheeled excavator series from Liebherr successfully stood out in a highly competitive field, with numerous submissions from companies and design studios worldwide. With their outstanding design and high product quality, the A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact made a strong impression on the international jury of experts. In recognition of this achievement, the Red Dot jury honoured the two models in the Product Design 2026 discipline with the highest award, ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’, and awarded them 96 out of a possible 100 Red Dot Winner Points.
The two Liebherr wheeled excavators are compact yet powerful all-round machines for demanding construction applications. The models in the nine and eleven tonne classes have been developed from scratch and feature state-of-the-art technology, high efficiency and first-class workmanship. With their attractive product design, the two models fit seamlessly into the existing Liebherr product portfolio and underline the company’s high standards of quality, continuity and progressiveness.
All components, from the comfortable cab interior and the new INTUSI (Intuitive User Interface) operating system to the visually optimised exterior, have been consistently designed for functionality and user benefit. Thanks to their compact dimensions, powerful hydraulics and precise controls, the new wheeled excavators offer high manoeuvrability and flexibility, even in tight spaces.
Despite their compact design, both models have the largest cab interior in their class. Spacious access and optimised all-round visibility improve comfort, ergonomics and safety. The intuitive and customisable INTUSI operating system is complemented by newly developed joysticks with innovative functions. Both machines are easy to transport, quick to set up and well suited for changing operating locations. With a focus on ease of operation, safety and durability, Liebherr is setting new standards in the compact wheeled excavator segment.
