Malaysian port orders RTGs from Terex
Malaysian terminal operator Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has ordered 26 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes from Terex Port Solutions (TPS). It is the largest order the company has received. The RTG cranes will be used at the port of Pelabuhan. The port is the largest container terminal in Malaysia and is being expanded; it is due to open in May 2014. When in operation, the cranes will work along two new quays, stretching 720 m. The cranes have an under-spreader lifting capacity of 50 tonnes and can stack standard containers 1-over-5, service seven container rows, plus a loading and unloading lane. Power comes from the harbour mains, resulting in zero exhaust emissions and low noise. The cranes will be delivered from April 2014.
