Cummins India is planning to ramp up the production of high-end engines in India at its greenfield facility near Pune to cope with growing demand. The com?pany is in the process of localising more such engines made at its UK and US factories. It?s also taking the exports route to boost its domestic operations.

The company is rolling up its sleeves to consolidate its position in the automobile and industrial engine space and the genset market, with Rs 2,000 crore being earmarked for capacity expansion near Pune. It has recently set up a greenfield facility in Phaltan near Pune.

With the new manufacturing base, the company is hopeful that it can cater to domestic as well as ex?port markets. Cummins India is one of the largest diesel and natural gas engine manufacturers for power generation, industrial and automotive markets. The company currently sup?plies diesel engines to all major com?mercial vehicle (CV) manufacturers.
