Nalco aims to produce 64.50 lakh tonne of bauxite

National Aluminium Company (Nalco) aims to produce 64.50 lakh tonne of bauxite, 21.5 lakh tonne of alumina, 4.05 lakh tonne of aluminium and generate 6,341 million units of power in 2013-14.

The company set this target in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Ministry of Mines.

The MoU also fixed sales turnover target at Rs 7,757 crore, which is about 10 percent higher than that of the current fiscal.

The MoU was signed between R H Khwaja, secretary, ministry of mines and Ansuman Das, Chairman and Managing Director of Nalco, in presence of Gauri Kumar, Special Secretary.

Meanwhile, it may be noted that the company is pursuing a new alumina refinery in Gujarat. It is also adding a new stream of 10 lakh tonne in the existing alumina refinery based on Pattangi bauxite deposit. The company's third wind power project is coming up at Damanjodi.

In addition, Nalco has also set targets for on-going Utkal-E coal mine project at Angul and upgradation of the fourth stream of alumina refinery at Damanjodi.
