New Holland Construction has expanded its electric mini excavator range with the launch of the new 2.5-metric-ton E25X. The battery-powered model joins the 1.5-metric-ton E15X electric mini excavator, which was released in 2023.

According to the company, its electric excavators offer zero emissions, low noise and reduced maintenance. The machines can give contractors greater flexibility on projects with strict noise and pollution requirements, including hospitals, schools, urban locations and indoor worksites.

Jake Sickels, Product Marketing Manager, New Holland Construction North America, said the solutions help remove obstacles linked to emissions and noise, enabling contractors to take on a wider range of projects.

The E25X’s tracks can be hydraulically retracted to 3 feet 3 inches wide, allowing the machine to pass through doorways. They can also be expanded by an additional foot to improve smoothness and stability during operation.

The excavator has a tailswing overhang of 1.5 feet, supporting work in confined spaces. It can operate a range of attachments beyond buckets, including hydraulic hammers, augers and mechanical thumbs.

The machine is suitable for foundation work, utility installation and demolition, among other applications. An optional Object Handling Kit provides a lift hook on the bucket linkage for raising heavy suspended loads.

The E25X offers a maximum dig depth of 8 feet and a dump height of 8 feet 8 inches. A long-arm option is also available, providing 9 feet 1 inch of dump height and dig depth.

The E25X has a runtime ranging from four to eight hours, depending on the task, with its 102-volt lithium-ion battery and 32.2 kWh capacity, the company says. Runtime consists of actual operation. Electric machines do not burn battery power when idling.

It takes about nine hours to charge the E25X from 0 per cent to 100 per cent, the company says. A 20 per cent to 80 per cent charge can be reached in about five hours. An onboard 240-volt 1-phase charging system is provided.
