Our BSV range is designed to deliver higher efficiency
Sanjeev Bajaj, Chief Officer, Construction Equipment Business Division, Escorts Kubota
Escorts Kubota unveiled multiple machines at Excon 2025. What was the core theme of your showcase?
The central theme was application-specific solutions for the Indian market. Infrastructure requirements are becoming more specialised, whether in urban construction, industrial logistics or mining. Our showcase focused on machines designed to improve productivity while reducing total cost of ownership across these varied applications.
The Kubota U22-6 fills an important gap between our 1.7-tonne and 3-tonne excavators. It is aimed at confined and space-constrained applications such as urban construction, basement excavation and utility work. Features like zero-tail swing, upgraded hydraulics and enhanced operator safety make it a compact yet highly capable solution for such environments.
We showcased the Hydra 15 mining in prototype form, developed specifically for mining and quarrying conditions. It incorporates enhanced safety features and improved cabin comfort to support long duty cycles. The intent is to offer a predictable, durable solution for rugged applications where reliability and uptime are critical.
The BLX75K backhoe loader, displayed in prototype form, reflects deeper integration of Kubota’s Japanese engineering. Powered by a CEV-V–compliant Kubota engine, it focuses on improved fuel efficiency, multiple work modes and easier serviceability. This aligns with growing customer expectations around performance consistency and operating economy.
Hydra 72 represents our thinking around higher-reach pick-and-carry cranes. With a 72-foot boom, it addresses emerging requirements for elevated lifting and material handling beyond the existing 65-foot class. The concept focuses on safety, continuous-duty performance and improved operator ergonomics for demanding lifting environments.
How important is BS V compliance in shaping your product roadmap?
BS V compliance is now a baseline requirement, but our focus goes beyond emissions. The objective is to ensure that compliance does not come at the cost of productivity or operating simplicity. Our BS V range is designed to deliver higher efficiency, reliability and comfort while keeping lifecycle costs under control.
What are customers prioritising most in the current market?
Customers are increasingly looking at total cost of ownership rather than just acquisition price. Reliability, fuel efficiency, serviceability and reduced unplanned downtime are key decision drivers. Our engineering efforts are directed at strengthening these aspects across the portfolio.
How does India feature in Escorts Kubota’s long-term construction equipment strategy?
India is a core market for us, driven by sustained infrastructure growth across urban development, mining and logistics. Our approach combines Indian market understanding with Japanese engineering strengths to deliver products that are robust, efficient and suited to local operating realities.
