Sanjeev Bajaj, CO - Construction Equipment Business Division, Escorts Kubota.

What are the key products or technologies you are showcasing at bauma ConExpo India, and what makes them particularly relevant to the evolving needs of Indian customers?
At bauma ConExpo India 2026, Escorts Kubota will showcase its latest construction equipment range across material handling, earthmoving and road construction segments. Key highlights include our new generation backhoe loader, higher-capacity pick and carry cranes, mini excavator and soil compactors.

These machines are designed for tough Indian applications where customers need higher productivity, fuel efficiency, and reliability and low maintenance products. We will also be showcasing new generation of telematics that help customers monitor machine location, live health, performance and utilisation, improve up time and manage operating costs more effectively.

What major shifts are you seeing in customer demand, such as automation, digitalisation, fuel efficiency, alternative fuels and lower operating costs, and how is your product strategy responding to these trends?
Customers today are looking beyond basic machine performance. They want better fuel efficiency, higher uptime, higher machine and operator safety, lower operating costs and greater visibility of machine health and utilisation. There is increasing interest in connected machines and digital fleet management solutions that help improve productivity and maintenance planning.

Our product strategy is focused on developing cleaner and more fuel-efficient equipment, integrating telematics for GPS monitoring and remote diagnostics, and improving machine reliability. We are continuously investing in technologies and new product platforms that would help customers to improve asset utilisation, maximising versatility, and continuously lowering total cost of ownership and maximising productivity. We are continuously analysing trends on Alternate fuels, hybrid technologies and electrification and will bring product at the right time.

India is emerging as both a major construction equipment market and an export hub. What are your plans to expand manufacturing and exports from India over the next few years?
India continues to be a strategic market for Escorts Kubota. Our focus is on strengthening local manufacturing capabilities, increasing localisation levels and developing products that meet both domestic and international requirements. Our recent investments in Greenfield facility at Jewar, is a testament to Escorts Kubota’s commitment to building world class products in India for global markets. We are currently exporting to 50+ countries worldwide, and would expand our footprint with new products.

With global trade uncertainties, geopolitical tensions and changing tariff dynamics, how are you managing supply chains, costs and localisation to remain competitive?
Localisation remains a key part of our strategy. We continue to strengthen partnerships with domestic suppliers and expanding local sourcing. This helps reduce supply chain risks, improve responsiveness and maintain cost competitiveness, and minimise price impact to the customers.

At the same time, we are focusing on product engineering, manufacturing efficiency and strong vendor enhancement programmes to ensure consistent quality, cost competitiveness, and timely components availability.

A stronger local ecosystem also helps us provide better support to customers through faster parts availability and service.

What are your key business priorities for the Indian market over the next two to three years, and where do you see the biggest growth opportunities?
Our priorities are to strengthen our construction equipment portfolio, expand our market reach and further enhance customer support. We are continuing to invest in product development, digital technologies and service infrastructure to improve customer experience and machine uptime. EKL currently has the strongest dealer network, and we are working relentlessly to enhance infrastructure and channel efficiency.

We see significant growth opportunities in infrastructure development, including roads, railways, metro projects, mining, industrial construction and logistics infrastructure. With continued government investment in infrastructure and increasing demand for efficient equipment, we believe the Indian construction equipment industry will continue to see strong growth over the next few years.
