Our range of world class attachments has received....
JCB plans to launch attachments such as magnet for steel scrap handling, log grapples, selector grabs, which will help in shipbuilding, solid waste management, material handling, scrap handling, etc, says Amit Gossain, VP ? Marketing & Business Development, JCB India. Excerpts from the interview.

Tell us about the range of attachments meant for demolition activities. How do you view the growth of this market?
JCB offers a wide range of attachments for various purposes such as demolition, foundation, trenching and other activities. In the demolition segment we offer breakers and crusher buckets.

The demolition industry has transformed in recent years but it is still at a very nascent stage in India. However, as the infrastructure sector is under the impact of rising property prices, there has been a surge in redevelopment projects of late, which will impact the demolition market.

Brief us on the range of hydraulic breakers offered by JCB and its technical features.
We offer the most extensive range of hydraulic breakers in the industry i.e, Hammer Master HM 360, Hammer Master HM 380, Hammer Master HM 880, Hammer Master HM 1180, Hammer Master HM 2180.

Our entire range of world class attachments has received a splendid response from our customers owing to some best-in-class features such as:

? Robust casing;
? Higher operating weight which helps stress waves transverse to the ground more effectively and efficiently;
? Standard anti-blank firing feature which avoids damage to the internal parts and carrier structure;
? Higher impact rate which helps to achieve higher productivity.

Any new products to be introduced in the Indian market?
With this growing infrastructure demand in india, JCB plans to introduce a wide range of attachments for various purposes which will help in simplying the day-to-day tasks. In the near future, JCB plans to launch attachments such as magnet for steel scrap handling, log grapples, selector grabs which will help in shipbuilding, solid waste management, material handling, scrap handling, etc. At present, we are very focused on segments like quarry, demolition and road contractors.

What is the kind of dealer network and services you provide to the customers?
JCB India has the largest and the strongest dealer network in the industry. We have over 57 dealers and over 450 outlets in the country with over 6,000 trained employees. In all our dealership outlets, we have an experienced and trained employee force to provide immediate assistance to our customers regarding attachments. Our main objective of establishing such a huge network is to provide unparallel service to our customers.

Our distribution network is one of our major pillars of success, and we will continue to expand it and our dealers will continue to expand as they have the volumes to support it.

What is the lifecycle of your range of products?
JCB equipment is the finest range of products available in the construction equipment sector. The JCB product range is known to be the leader when it comes to performance, technology and design innovation and reliability. However, a lot of factors such as environment, terrain, geographical and topographical conditions play a significant role in determining the lifecycle of equipment.

In India, the project requirement is such that a machine runs double the hours in a year as compared to Western countries and therefore, five to six years is a normal life of breakers.

Has the slowdown in the market also impacted the attachment segment? When you expect the recovery?
The global ECE industry has followed a growing trend over the past 10-15 years except for a few years of de-growth because of economic uncertainties. The current slowdown in construction activity, coupled with fiscal constraints in the erstwhile high-growth markets such as US, Japan, and Europe, has resulted in reduced infrastructure spending by governments, thus impacting the attachment business.

However, if the ongoing projects are executed within a proper timeframe, we feel the attachment market will also gain momentum.
