People demand to execute 3-road project in Tripunithura

In Kerala, residents of Tripunithura Municipality in Ernakulam district have sought the implementation of three-road development project proposed by the municipality to prevent petroleum and other bullet tankers from using the busy roads. According to the local people, the proposals to widening the Mamala-Chithrapuzha Bund Road (from Thiruvankulam to Manakkapadi via Kochi-Madurai bypass) and the Manakkapadi-Vyttila Road (via Eroor and Kaniyampuzha) must be taken up on priority basis.

The Konothupuzha bund road in the municipal limits must be constructed. According to the residents, the roads cannot accommodate the increasing number of bullet tankers. There is a chance of a bullet tanker tragedy. To avoid such incidents, a new route must be arranged exclusively for bullet tankers, they said.

The residents added that hundreds of LPG bullet tankers from Kochi Refinery and ammonia and other chemical-laden trucks from Willingdon Island pass through the area everyday. The local people have demanded that the Mamala-Chithrapuzha Bund Road and Manakkapadi-Vyttila must be connected after widening.
