Sany has appointed Dr. Govind Bhagwatikar as Business Head for their Renewable Energy BU in India. Dr. Bhagwatikar comes with a diverse experience of over 20 years in the grid connected wind and solar energy and power sector. Sany recently signed the Green Energy Commitment with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards development of 2,000 mw of renewable energy projects with investments of $3 billion (Rs 20,000 crore) for the period 2016-2020.

On his new responsibility, Dr. Bhagwatikar said, ?I am excited with this challenging role and look forward to develop this new business right from its commencement. India is a strategic long-term growth market for Sany Global. I am confident of successfully steering Sany?s Renewable Energy business towards establishing a prominent presence in the Indian market.?

Prior to joining Sany, Dr. Bhagwatikar was associated with Vestas, BP, Siemens and Welspun Renewables and played a key role in the growth through turnkey projects, greenfield development, re-powering, bidding and technology acquisition in wind and solar energy. He started his career with Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) where he successfully developed and operated first three demo wind farms in the 90?s during the wind energy programme formation in India.

Bhagwatikar holds a Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering and Electrical (Electronics & Power) and a Master?s Degree in Power Systems and Finance and Banking. He also holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical Engineering with specialisation in Wind Energy.
