Alfa Engineering & Construction, a leading Russian contractor, bought five Potain MCT 178 tower cranes to use at construction projects in Russia, the surrounding CIS markets, Iran and Turkey. All five 8 t capacity cranes are operating at a major residential development in Moscow. Alfa purchased the cranes from Global Cranes, which supplies the entire range of Grove mobile cranes and Potain tower cranes in Russia. Alfa previously rented cranes but the company decided to buy the MCT 178s as a smart investment for the future.The five MCT 178s are lifting general construction materials and pre-cast concrete slabs at the 6.3 hectare site. They are building seven new residential towers, the tallest of which will be 22 stories. The first crane was erected in December 2012 and the last was added in February 2013.
