Schwing Stetter ventures into tower crane market
Schwing Stetter (India) has launched the five- and six-tonne tower cranes branded Schwing-XCMG. The new cranes are from XCMG, a Chinese manufacturer of cranes and one of the largest in the world, which holds a 60 per cent stake in the Schwing Stetter holding company in Germany.

Anand Sundaresan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Schwing Stetter (India), said the launch marks the diversification of the product base for the Indian subsidiary. The cranes will initially be imported but will eventually, over the next year or so, be mostly manufactured locally. The five-tonne capacity tower crane is the most in demand in the domestic market, followed by the six-tonne crane.

According to VG Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter Sales and Services, the five-tonne unit, XGT63YD (5013-5), will be priced at about Rs 60 lakh and the bigger version XGT100YD at Rs 90 lakh.
