The Ministry of Coal has issued show cause notices on thirteen firms seeking explanation on delays in development of mines allocated to them for captive use. Some of the prominent names include NMDC, JLD, Yavatmal Energy, Balco and AMR Iron and Steel. Show cause notice dated 1st January 2014 is issued to AMR Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd, Century Textiles & Industries Ltd and J K Cement Ltd in respect of Bander Coal Block. Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) in it's 21st meeting held on 06/08/2013 inter alia considered the status of the development of the Bander coal block prepared by the Coal Controller's Organisation (CCO) as on March, 2013 and noted that the progress of the block is unsatisfactory.
