Kalika Steel Alloys has placed an order with Metals Technologies, a business unit of Siemens, to supply a rolling mill for reinforcing steels. The mill will be erected in the Jalna plant in Maharashtra and will produce about 250,000 tonne of rebar per year from low-carbon steels. Siemens has specifically developed this plant design for small to medium-size production capacities and it allows projects to be implemented comparatively quickly and economically. Commissioning of the rolling mill is scheduled for late 2014.

Siemens will be supplying the complete mechanical and electrical equipment as well as the automation systems for the rebar rolling mill which will produce reinforcing steels with diameters between 8 and 40 mm and lengths in the range of 9 and 15 m.
