The 100 per cent electrification project of Sagar Island by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited that received funding from the World Bank (ICZ) and State Fund has recently been commissioned by Sterling and Wilson Pvt. Ltd. The project will directly benefit the inhabitants of Sagar Island by making grid power available to them at their doorstep, thus facilitating accelerated irrigation, support to the food processing industry, strengthening of education and health service, and providing the much needed boost to the development of tourism on the island.
